Where's your Chinese school located in Beijing?*

*the school recently moved from ChaoYang District to be closer to other Universities in Beijing for our joint programs.

The location is in HaiDian District, Beijing (the University District in Beijing) This location is ideal because:

  • It is close to the majority of the other schools and universities in Beijing (located in HaiDian District).
  • We are just 10 minutes away from the the University of International Relations campus and BLCU (Beijing Language and Culture University)
  • However, the location is also designed to give you the ideal learning environment: modern classrooms in the student center, but close enough to Western amenities in downtown.

What kind of recreational/fun activities are there?

There are many travel opportunities and activities. For a list see the What's Included page.

The area is close to the University District, where you will find modern dining and shopping tailored towards Westerners. A short distance away is the main bar district popular among many foreigners. (this is a mere $1.25 taxi ride away). Because we are relatively close to the center of Beijing, major tourist attractions are not far away.

What is the typical day like?

Our program is definitely an intensive Chinese study abroad in China opportunity. Students learning to speak Chinese will rise early before going into the classroom. Intermittent activities and instruction will follow until lunchtime. At lunchtime the class will eat together again and continue the learning process at a local Chinese restaurant with the teacher. Remainder of the lunch break will be free. Class will resume for two hours of instruction and activities.Thereafter students may work on various activities with their tutor or may relax. Extracurricular activities will be from six to 8 p.m., twice per week. Sunday is a free day. And Saturday will be excursions to popular tourist sites coupled with Chinese learning en route.

Is there phone/internet access available?

Yes, all rooms are equipped with a phone and available high-speed Internet access (available for a fee). The computer lab offers Internet access and is available to all students free of charge.

If you wish to set up a cell phone account we will assist you.

Is your Chinese learning program in Beijing accredited?

Yes, it is accredited through the University of International Relations a university in Beijing, China. It is a widely recognized university in China, which has been used to teach diplomats and civil servants language for the Chinese government.

A placement test at the end of the program is administered by the University of International Relations. This will determine your level of accomplishment and grade. A certificate of completion will be issued by the University of International Relations. Although we can not guarantee every institution will grant credit, we will work with all students to assist them in obtaining credit. What's the difference between a certificate from another school or "Academy"and our certificate?

For groups and VIP customers they are. Please contact us. We would be happy to discuss these possibilities with you.

What if I want to come early/stay late?

Not a problem. Your fee includes accommodation in Beijing for 1 day prior to the course start date through 1 day after course completion. We will pick you up and deliver you to the Beijing airport regardless of when you come. Extra accommodation charges for additional time will apply.

What are your refund/cancellation policies?

They are available here (popup).

Why is your Chinese school expensive?

In short, it is not. We save your time and hassle and per hour it's hard to find a better full-service study abroad in China package. Compare programs carefully.

We spend a lot of money on each student, compared with many other Chinese schools. Most Chinese schools simply hire a teacher and buy books published from the same source. We have generated our own proprietary materials both hard copy and software-based. We believe computer-based training enhances and augments the teacher and accordingly have invested in the computer lab. For each student we invest hundreds of dollars in Chinese learning software costs plus costs for the PalmPilot. We pay our teachers well (well above average), thereby holding turnover to a minimum and maintaining quality. We demand high standards from the teachers, and evaluate them accordingly. Also our one-to-one tuition with a Chinese tutor costs much more than the free language exchange other schools may offer. What's the difference between a Chinese tutor and a language partner or language exchange?

Furthermore, as our mission statement and philosophy states, we believe we give you more value for your money than any other short-term Chinese program in China. If you come to our Chinese school in Beijing with an open mind and apply yourself, we will help you reach the highest level possible, one that can deliver the equivalent of one year Chinese language study in the US higher education system.
